Joseph Hurst, LPC

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with nine years of experience helping people navigate some of the most challenging periods of their lives. I believe that effective therapy begins with feeling heard, understood, and accepted for who you are—not judged for where you have been.

My approach to therapy is primarily person-centered, with a strong emphasis on acceptance, compassion, and meeting each client where they are. I work collaboratively with clients to better understand those experiences and identify meaningful paths forward.

I am also specialized in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, which I use to help clients work through trauma and other difficult experiences that may continue to affect their thoughts, emotions, relationships, or daily lives.

As a veteran myself, I understand that military experiences can have lasting effects, and I have experience helping veterans navigate trauma, PTSD, anxiety, relationships, reintegration into civilian life, and other challenges associated with military service.

Throughout my career, I have worked with individuals, couples, and families experiencing a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Anxiety and anxiety disorders
  • Depression
  • Adjustment and life-transition difficulties
  • Anger and emotional regulation
  • Grief and loss
  • Relationship and family concerns
  • Veteran and military-related concerns

I believe therapy is not about telling someone how they should live their life. Instead, it is about creating a place where people can be honest about what they are experiencing, better understand themselves, and work toward the life they want. My role is to walk alongside my clients throughout that process, offering support, perspective, and professional guidance along the way..
